The site is located in Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, 120km east of Shenzhen City, designated to integrate with the Pearl River Delta and promote development of "Shenshan Special Joint Development Area". The urban planning study area covers approximately 260ha, of which the central area covers 80ha, and the schematic design of the station is proposed in the competition.
The surrounding hills and rivers are expected to create a "new lifestyle in harmony with the natural environment" distinct from the efficiency-oriented cities such as Shenzhen. Given these location characteristics, the new station was conceived as the "bridge" that connects the station and the district, people and industry, city and nature, and history and future.
The dynamic form of the building conveys the function of connecting the station to its surroundings, and its symbolic design fits as the central station of the development area. It is expected the terminal will serve as a new icon and a hub for social interaction.
