MB TOWER
This is the new head office of the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), one of the major commercial banks in Vietnam.
The site faces Le Van Luong Street, which has been developed in recent years and has become one of the major urban axis roads in Hanoi. The podium of the building as a street façade that is parallel to the street contributes to the formation of a streetscape as an urban axis. On the other hand, the high-rise tower as a building façade that is not parallel to the street, in line with the direction of the neighboring district, makes the building as landmark in the streetscape. Although the building has the general design consist of podium and tower, the facades facing in two different directions create a unique appearance.
The podium of the building has a slightly classical design, while the high-rise tower has a modern, vertical design. That gives two impressions of the building facade of stability and growth, which is suitable for a bank headquarters.
The most impressive feature of the building is the glass cylinder named "Media Tree" at the corner of the podium. Supported by a tree-like structure and clad in a highly transparent glass cover, the "media tree" creates an expression that opens up to the city while a bank building tends to have relatively closed design. Media Tree plays the role of an interface between the bank and the society, transmitting information and activities in the building.
