Shanghai International Trade Center
A Japan-China joint venture project for an expat area of Hongqiao close to the previous Shanghai International Airport, planned as part of the policy measures to open the country to foreign businesses in the late 1980s.
7 upper stories of the 35 storied building were allocated to housing facilities for expatriates, lower floors to top grade office space, and a separate building to an exhibition hall.
Even today, the tenants include many Japanese companies and there are various exhibitions held on weekends that attract numerous visitors.
