Tsuruoka Town Campus

Tsuruoka Town Campus is an educational facility housing three educational institutions, Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University, Graduate School, Tohoku University of Community Service and Science and Tsuruoka Municipal Chido Library.
Situated in a park on the historical site of Tsuruoka Castle, the facilities build on the historical vantage to create a townscape that reflects the present concern for the environment.
Hyakken-bori, the castle moat which had been maintained until the previous war, was partially reconstructed of as a biotope open to the public.
The research centers are mixed openly into the waterside park, showing a new possibility for town development.
