Nihon Sekkei won the First prize in the Competition for Qingdao North Railway Station TOD Urban Creation Project.

In November 2021，Nihon Sekkei won the first prize in the Qingdao North Railway Station TOD urban creation project competition in collaboration with ECADI,AECOM, and Qingdao Civil Use Architecture Design Institute. The project is located in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, China.

We have proposed an urban infrastructure in front of Qingdao North Station for the bay city of Qingdao, combining history, culture, transportation, industry, and environmental elements. An “activity cloud loop” has been set up to encourages people’s activities and communication, and a network of nodes that serve as the symbol and destination of each area in the region has been incorporated into the urban structure to make a vibrant city.

The goal is to create a highly efficient industrial zone that integrates the station and the city by providing efficient transportation functions and the multi-layered pedestrian network connecting business districts, historical and cultural districts, and residential areas. Public spaces where various activities can be seen, is also proposed.
