Taizhou Hospital Medical Center
A relocation and new construction plan for a 200,000 m2 university hospital with 1,500 beds in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, China. A university hospital, educational facilities, an infectious disease hospital that can deal with SARS at the pandemic stage and a lodging house for the medical staff are arrayed in a vast area of approximately 160,000 m2 .
Through the adoption of Japanese hospital planning methodologies and architectural technology, (including various passive systems with modifications in accordance with the requirements of a Chinese hospital), a rational department composition and fitting medical environment can be achieved, and the facilities operated with low energy consumption for a long period.
